This year we stayed home until 10am!!! Yeah!! I was so excited to start making some traditions for our little family. Eating was, is, and always will be a big part of those traditions. I LIKE food. So, for Christmas breakfast I wanted to make some of the things that my mom always made for us. So I made monkey bread, eggs, and sausage. It turned out really well (despite the pic below). I learned a few lessons that will come in handy next year.
Ellie was on a kick of sleeping in until about 9am around the holidays, which was awesome - no complaints here. So I woke up around 8:45am in a panic thinking that my monkey bread didn't raise because it was cold in the house. Well for those of you who have made it in the past, you know to follow the recipe. While I was putting mine together I kept thinking, my bundt pan must be huge. I can fit the whole bag of Rhodes Rolls in mine (the recipe says that only 18 will fit). Unknown to me - only 18 will fit once they've raised and are ready for cooking. So this is what I woke up to.
Old saggy boobs. I came into the kitchen and busted up laughing. From a distance it looked what I imagined granny boobs looking like. Then I freaked out. I got the recipe out and re-read it, paying lots of attention to the part that says 18 rolls only. But don't worry, I fixed it! I got the scissors out, cut off the saggy boobs, punched down the others and baked as directed. It tasted great!
